Pentax cameras
With the introduction of technology, we have had many benefits and upgrades as consumers. One of which is the digital camera. Instead of having to load the film and deal with the other features of a film camera, a digital camera allows us much more freedom and convenience. Pentax has helped provide cameras to help capture all of life’s memories for the past 80 years that they have been in existence.
The company was first founded in 1919 in Tokyo, Japan, as the Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co. Pentax was then formed in 1938. They then became the technology leader of the SLR camera when they released their first SLR camera, the Asahiflex, in 1952.
Today, through the use of subsidiary companies and over 100 distributors in 100 countries, Pentax continues to achieve a growing presence in the industry. They continually collect market opinions and information by the sales network to help improve products and satisfy customers. They also provide warranty services.
Throughout the years, Pentax has improved their SLR cameras, and introduced an entire series of digital cameras. However, there are not so many choices that you will be overwhelmed about which camera to choose from. Both professional photographers and budding hobbyists alike appreciate what Pentax has to offer with their digital cameras and SLR style cameras. There is a camera for all levels of experience.
Digital Cameras
With the introduction of the digital camera, Pentax responded with their ‘Optio’ digital camera line. The models are suited for everyone involved in photography, whether they be professionals or amateurs. The Optio line is a mixture of easy-to-use styles and high quality features. They are all user-friendly while still providing the highest quality of images.
The Optio line of cameras from Pentax were designed for people who were new to the digital technology field, but still wanted to be involved with the digital world. The compact digital cameras are extremely lightweight, so that you can carry them virtually anywhere. There are a total of 4 digital camera series available from Pentax. These include the S Series, Optio Wpi, Optio X, and Optio 750Z.
One example is the Pentax Optio M40. This is a very stylish metal camera that is also ultra-slim with a resolution of 8 mega pixels. The camera is also equipped with a 2.5 inch LCD display screen and a 3x zoom feature. The best feature on this camera is the macro focus. This allows the user to achieve the best photographs. In comparison, the M40 is relatively affordable, despite all of the high quality features of this entry-level camera.
In the same category as the Optio M40 is the T20. It is also super slim and compact, with 7 mega pixels and a 3.0-inch LCD display screen that is touch-screen activated. The touch-screen menu is a combination of thumbnail images for playback, and other camera editing options. While this model is considered to be the thinnest model available from Pentax, it is not without great optical performance or the latest technology.
Digital SLR
As noted earlier, the first camera introduced by Pentax was the SLR camera. For those who are not familiar with the term ‘SLR’, it is an acronym for ‘single lens reflex’. Pentax was one of the last companies to bring their digital version of the SLR camera to the market. The first model made its appearance in 2003. Even though they were late manufacturing the digital SLR, they are widely known for making the most compact digital SLR cameras in the industry. Pentax was also one of the only camera companies selling their SLR camera at such a low price. Other camera companies have taken pointers from Pentax for their own ultra-slim digital SLR cameras.
The digital version of the SLR available from Pentax combines all of the famous functions associated with Pentax as well as the latest breakthroughs in technology. Either way, the models are very stylish, compact, and easy to use. The Pentax digital SLR cameras will fulfill the needs of the most advanced professional photographers to new amateurs. Each model in the SLR line by Pentax has a special feature to offer. The models, newest to oldest, are: DS2, DL, DS, and D.
In May of 2006, Pentax surprised the camera industry with a first in digital SLR technology. With their introduction of the K100D, they also introduced a built-in ‘Anti-Shake’ mode. This type of camera was one of the only ones on the market, other than a model offered by Minolta. However, the K100D was one of the most affordable ‘Anti-Shake’ models on the market.
One of the latest models of SLR cameras released from Pentax is the K200D, which was introduced in April of 2008. This SLR model is equipped with a screen resolution of 10.2 mega pixels and a large wide-view LCD screen. This is an ideal camera for all types of photography, and it is as easy to use as a point-and-shoot camera. However, it is advanced with all of the special digital SLR features. One feature that many users adore about this camera is the unique weather and dust resistance feature. You can use this during your most rugged travels, and it is great for beginners and intermediate photographers. While you cannot go underwater with this camera, you can take pictures on the beach or in the rain without worrying about damaging the device.
If you are looking for a camera from Pentax with one of the highest counts of mega pixels, then the K20D is the best choice. Not only does this camera have the dust control feature, as well as a built-in image stabilization mode, but there is also a live view feature. This is the only Pentax SLR model with this feature. It allows the user to view the image exactly as it is without the camera adjusting it down to size or changing any of the attributes. This high quality camera is also wrapped up in a weather and dust-resistant shell.
All of the digital SLR cameras from Pentax are made in a durable plastic instead of metal. This ensures that no matter how large the device is, it will still be light enough for the user to carry with them in all types of situations.
