Nikon Coolpix P6000

Filed under: Nikon Cameras — admin @ 5:29 pm

When you are at the beginning of your photographic journey, you do not want to skimp on quality simply because you are new to the game.  The Nikon Coolpix P6000 is loaded to help you become a semi-professional photographer with multiple automatic and adjustable features.

Offering a somewhat higher 13.5 megapixel high-resolution image, this model's images can become masterpieces when you use all the buzzes and whistles properly.  The 4x zoom less is capable of being 28mm wide angle.  High resolution and wide viewing angle comes with the LCD monitor so that you can view your whole image easily from all angles.  It is also set up with a good backlight system so you can view your LCD even in bright light conditions.

Automatic exposure modes come with the Coolpix P6000 as well as vibration reduction control.  With VR, the camera will adjust your image for you to prevent movement and camera shake blurs.  ISO settings offered are from 64 all the way up through 6400.  This will allow you to be able to take top quality pictures in most any lighting situation.  The resolutions of the images can become fixed at the highest ISO settings, but they are still excellent images.   The darker your subject's area is, the higher the ISO you will want to have set.  The brighter your area, the lower it will be set.

Some nifty features on the Coolpix P6000 are the built-in GPS and wireless remote control.  With the GPS, the camera can triangulate your location, just like a GPS in your car or cell phone, and then it can record a geotag (latitude, longitude, and location) onto your photographs.  This is an excellent way of adding captions to the images you have taken.  The wireless control can allow you to release the shutter without having to hold the camera, allowing you more personal flexibility to interact within the scene yourself or with those in your frame.

Within the camera, before it even saves the image, the P6000 can adjust for red-eye fix, D-Lighting and Face-priority AF.  The red eye will be admonished before it is saved, so no more worries that your pictures will have alien eyes.  The D-lighting feature will assist you in completing an image with consistent lighting and contrast.  You needn't worry about underexposed or overexposed pictures.  Your dark areas will lighten up so you can see the detail and you bright areas will be toned down so you do not have washed out areas in your photograph.

Reviews for the Nikon Coolpix P6000 give it ten out of ten stars for quality and features with an overall score of nine out of ten stars.  The camera comes compatible with Microsoft Vista systems for better clarity on pictures produced in the raw format.  It will support an external speedlight to use for a flash when necessary and if you wish to connect it to your computer through a router, the P6000 has an Ethernet port.    This is the perfect little camera for someone on the go, as it is pocket sized and portable.

Nikon Coolpix S710

Filed under: Nikon Cameras — admin @ 4:58 pm

Nikon states the Nikon Coolpix S710 to be at the "head of its class in quality, control and performance".  With a stainless steel design, this camera is sleek and compact, fitting almost anywhere.  A three inch LCD monitor with anti-reflection coating and 14.5 megapixels are only the beginning to this powerful item.

This camera is very easy to use and offers many modes and features to allow for maximum creativity.  For sharp and clear photography, the S710 offers four features to reduce blur.  The optical vibration reduction image stabilization technology will compensate for camera shake.  With the motion detection feature the camera automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed so that you can capture the moving subjects with clarity.  The best shot selector will shoot multiple frames (sometimes called bracketing) and will automatically select the best image.  The ISO range will go all the way up to 12800 so you can make clear shots in any lighting situation you may come across.

For your creative outlet, this camera packs a lot of punch!  You can choose from the Scene Auto Selector Mode, allowing the camera to select the perfect scene mode for the image you are shooting.  It will automatically adjust various settings that include white balance and lighting for a masterpiece.  These modes include close-up, portrait, landscape, backlight, night portrait and night landscape.  Combined with the ISO, you will shoot hassle free images.

In-camera fixes further assist the photographer.  The red eye fix will eliminate red eye from your subjects, D-lighting will adjust for proper exposure and face priority will take into account the entire frame while focusing on the faces.  This will allow the camera to adjust the darker areas so they are not too dark and the brighter areas so they are not too bright.  You will have an evenly balanced image to print.

The interface capabilities of the Coolpix S710 work quite well.  There is a steering wheel spin control dial next to the LCD that allows you to be able to rapidly access menus and manual control adjustments.  The mode dial is digital through the spin control dial.  Key features are well liked by reviewers of the product.  You have access to Program AE mode, Shutter Priority, Manual and Scene modes so that you can play around with the settings and the camera will compensate as you punch in different things so that no matter what, you still get a great outcome.

Burst modes allow for you to shoot continuously and different clicks per second to catch subjects on the move.  Color options will let you play with different settings including cyanotype, which can give your image a blue color.    The Nikon Coolpix S710 also offers smile mode to make sure everyone smiles and food mode to make sure your still life has the color intensity you wish it to have.

For a beginner or novice photographer, this point and shoot digital camera could be the answer to what you are looking for.  The Nikon Coolpix S710 has taken into account so many things in order to offer you the perfect image; there is very little room to fail.

Nikon D40

Filed under: Nikon Cameras — admin @ 4:57 pm

The Nikon D40 was originally released in 2006 as compact digital SLR that was the lightest that had ever been developed.  The ergonomics of the camera body lend to easy handling.  Utilizing Nikon's DC format CCD image sensor, the D40 has an effective 6.1 megapixels with the images.

At 6.1 megapixels, this tends to have the camera fall into the medium-level range.  This range would be good for the hobbyist.  While the imagery would be supreme to 3 megapixels, for a high end professional you would wish to have a SLR with more punch.  You can take bursts of anywhere up to one hundred jpeg frames, large or smaller, using the fast 2.5 frame-per-second speed the camera offers.  Precise and natural images in true color and tone are produced with the Nikon D40.

This lovely camera comes with 3D Color Matrix Metering that delivers 420-pixel RGB automatic exposure that can adjust for most any lighting situation.  You no longer need to struggle over underexposed or overexposed photographs since the D40 is capable of handling it for you.  An added benefit is the  AF system.  This little puppy makes it possible to auto-focus on your subject, eliminating the blur that is possible from camera movement.  As with any auto-focus program, however, make sure that when you take your picture you are close enough that the camera focuses on the correct subject in your picture.   The AF-assist can also aid the photographer with illumination when shooting in the dark.

For still yet more control on this SLR, you can shoot photographs in the equivalent of 200 through 1600 ISO and Digital Vari-Progams allow for further automation.   When in the Vari-Program mode, you have the luxury of the camera choosing the correct settings for auto flash, portrait, landscape, child, sports, close-up, or night portraits.  The saturation, color, tone, white balance and sharpness are all pre-configured for the photographer.

Do you enjoy adding special little things to your regular images?  The D40 has in-camera retouching and effects so that you can instantly take care of red eye, lighting and add some filters.  If you would prefer something besides color, the controls allow you to change your picture to black and white, sepia (like old-time photos) or cyanotype.  This could save you a lot of time and energy having to reprint pictures you didn't want in the first place to get to what you wanted.

Another fantastic way to make sure your time is well spent is with the image assistant.  This nifty little feature will actually show you what the photograph will look like with the settings you've chosen before you take it.    You really have next to zero waste with the Nikon D40!

Rechargeable battery, built-in flash, and proprietary software all wrap a nice little bow around this package.  You can take the control even further with the Nikon D40 and adjust the cropping, rotation and other effects with the included software.  All the benefits take a point and shoot system to a new high-end level, making it possible for most users, beginners and advanced, to take professional quality photographs!

Nikon D80

One of the mid-range professional digital single lens reflex cameras is the Nikon D80.  At a maximum resolution of 10.2 megapixels, the model has little degradation from small print to large print.  The pentaprism viewfinder comes with .94x magnification, so you no longer need to strain to see the subject you are photographing.

A high-end lens comes with the kit.  At 18-135mm range, the intermediate photographers can get a lot of use out of the lens.  Effectively the 35mm equivalent is the 27-202.5mm lens and when the lens is expanded or contracted, it is easy to handle, leaving the camera well balanced in your hand.  The D80 could also be a great choice for a secondary camera for the professional.

When in search of adjustable controls, the D80 is not lacking.  The ISO has a wide range from 100 through 1600 and can be boosted for even higher ratings. Available light is maximized for top quality work. An eleven area auto focus system can switch automatically from wide frame to even broader.   If your subject moves while you are focusing, the AF settings will automatically switch from single to continuous mode so that you can still acquire a clear and concise picture.  The memory capacity of the media is extraordinaire as you save the images to the SD and SDHC cards.  You can shoot anywhere from 2-32GB of data at a time.

When worried about lighting, don't be.  The D80 has a pop-up built-in flash and has a standard hotshoe that makes it capable of handling external flashes, as well.  With this wide range of availability, this Nikon model can take on slaves along with the built in flash to allow optimum control over lighting and fill.  With additional white balance options that include incandescent, fluorescent, sunlight and Kelvin temperature settings can be put into motion to assure only the best in quality.  An accessory that can add even more control is the wireless ML-L3 (IR) remote control and accompanying cord.

Nimble and well-placed controls the D80 focuses better the closer the subjects are to the camera.  Changes can be made through many menus, and they are made to copies rather than the originals.  This way the photographer can try out several ideas before deciding on the final printed image.  Up to three images can be combined in camera for multiple image production.  Preset scene modes include macro, sports and nighttime portraiture.  Retouch redeye or add numerous filters in the camera, as you get continually more creative with the photos you take.

Not only can this model take photographs, but you also have the ability to make slideshows.  Pictmotion slideshows can even have music included in the file, although make sure you know what the song may sound like, as there are no speakers on the camera.

Reviews thrive on all the provided gadgetry, buzzes and whistles.  Many critics, showing the consumer what a great deal the Nikon D80 really is, report four out of five stars.  This is a great purchase for the newly baptized professionals.
